Hope you are feeling the sap rising through your bones as Spring kicks into gear. I know I am- a day without need for jacket or scarf?! It’s enough to put a smile on the face of any man. And speaking of smiles on faces I’ve just been told that I am uncool for using the emoticon I should be using who knew? I was, however, introduced to a great emoticon called Clyde (though I think it looks like Derren Brown in a bowler hat)

Initially I was tempted to simply draw Hobbes but I figured that was a bit too easy, then I was going to repost the photo of the real Jeff that Jody made for me, but again that seemed too easy. So instead I used Jeff as inspiration and did this:

Wow, nearly missed a post!

So yeah, nearly didn’t post at all- been a mad weekend and blah blah blah, so: sorry about that. I know some of you can’t function with a break to your strict schedules, well it is still Sunday so don’t go throwing your poop at the walls just yet!

How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

Now this has been a very busy year for me as I have not only been drawing Catatonic I have also created My TV is Evil and modern life is awesome as well as designing a couple of posters and opening night cards along the way. It has been a lot of work but I can honestly say I’ve never been happier.

Here’s to many years to come. Thank you again to Tom, Paul and Andy for their contributions to today’s post and to Lou for the Staedtler Triplus Color Pens that have added that extra dimension to my cartoons. Thank you to everyone who has commented on the blog and bouyed my sense of worth as well as improved the jokes. But most importantly:

Well I made it back ‘Daan Saaarf’ and in the process proved beyond any doubt that coaches, for me,  are no longer an option. Perhaps it is with age that I no longer wish to compromise on comfort but whatever it is I’m more than happy with it. That’s right, my friends; at the age of 30 and three quarters I have come to the decision that, no matter how good a saving it seems, I no longer travel by coaches for long trips! Add to that my refusal to stay in hostels when on holiday and we see that my transition into middle age is running along smoothly.
